Surrounded by a curtain of fog I take a rest during my ascent towards Hornlilutte.  Hornlihutte is the mountain hut used by climbers to scale the Matterhorn.

   If you look closely you can see hikers ascending Hornlihutte along the Matterhorn ridge.  Hornlihutte is visible if you follow the knife edge ridge.  The summit of the Matterhorn can almost be seen.

     Walking on ice.  I had a towel rapped around my head to dry the sweat and keep me warm.

     Hornlihutte (3260m)!.  the highest elevation I hiked while in the Alps.  Very rewarding as you will see.

     The fog is starting to rise and the clouds are beginning to clear.  Like an unveiling of a beautiful gift.

     Oh oh.  Now I have to descend along this ridge.  The little buildings down below is Schwarzee.

     His name is Ziegra Max, age 93!  Ascending up Hornlihutte.  Now that's an accomplishment.

   Liesalotte Suskind.  A German doctor also ascending Hornlihutte.  During her 40's, she actually climbed the Matterhorn.  She was one of the first women to accomplish such a feat.
